I was just telling my lab mates about Waldorf and it got me onto the PWS website. I saw the invitation for alumni to drop a line and just had to say hello! I studied under Ms. Blair and graduated in 1998. Since then, I did 2 years of high school at La Salle, 2 years of high school at a boarding school in Northfield Mount Hermon, Massachusetts. I did my undergrad at UCSB, where I studied Bio and Spanish, took a year abroad in Barcelona, a semester abroad in Costa Rica, and graduated magna cum laude and phi beta kappa.
I worked for a year at Siemens Healthcare Inc. and then decided to go back to school for a Ph.D. I’m currently in my fourth year at UC Berkeley-UCSF joint graduate group in bioengineering. I am working in a synthetic biology lab where I build biosensors. I’ve also been active in undergraduate education, training students in laboratory techniques and leading the 2011 Berkeley iGEM team: http://2011.igem.org/Team:Berkeley.
I hope all goes well and I continue to treasure the memories and lessons formed at Waldorf. I would not be the person I am today without the holistic education I received.
