PWS alumna Amelia Garrison ’08 was recently recognized as a Gold Key and American Visions Nominee – one of the top five – in the 2012 L.A. Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition, for “Laundry Relationships,” a work in photography. Amelia’s work will be considered for national-level recognition, and if chosen, will be on display in New York City in June 2012. Top award winners receive cash awards and scholarships through partnerships with colleges and universities.

The award is given by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, which identifies teenagers with exceptional artistic talent and brings their work to a national audience through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. The Alliance partners with over 100 visual and literary-arts affiliates across the country to bring the program to local communities. Past winners include Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford, and Joyce Carol Oates.
